Hibiscus Plus

I have come to the conclusion that hibiscus is my favorite flower.

I have a hard time not snapping pictures of them
wherever I find them.

These were on the edges of a parking lot
on Sanibel Island, Florida.

Taken in March 2017.

This bicycle seat in the same location
was equally irresistible.

SUPER SOFT...AHHhhh

Fabric Pattern #15

This is a carpet (I think).
The picture was taken in October 2016.
We were on our way to Israel,
and we spent a night in Zurich.
There were hotels and airports along the way...

Anyway,
I like the warm colors
and the swirling pattern,
which seems to be moving toward
or away from paisley.

The artistic process of developing a pattern like this
and transmitting onto fabric or carpet
never fails to amaze me.

Mesa Colonnade

This colonnade is at a hotel in Mesa, Arizona.

It is a simple covered passageway
from the main building to some
meeting rooms in a side building.

There is something comforting and inviting
about the geometry
and the inherent telescoping perspective.

Notice the textured diamonds in the walkway.

Also, the pillars are not directly across from each other.
They are staggered.

This photo was taken 14 February 2017.

Arts Sighted in Quartzite

A blip along Interstate 10 in the western hinterlands of Arizona.
A great stop for rock hounds, gem lovers, and flea marketers of every stripe.

Camel is apparently the town mascot.

Carving at the ends of the beams,
inside and out.

Clever, and well done.

Inside they are painted.
Hippo's lips and eyelashes
are irresistible.

Would love to hear the stories behind this broken wheel.

These pictures were taken February 2017.

Tips from Your Teabox

Found this message on the inner flap of my teabox.

Good advice, I reckon.

One never knows when one will need a fork.

Even it is found in the road...

Skyfire

Sunrise.
Our home star likes to make a grand entrance,
setting the sky on fire every morning.
The clouds do their part
to make it all the more magnificent.
Floating droplets passing the warm glow to each other
across the expansive dome;
reflecting, refracting,
joyfully re-shining,
even rejoicing!
Brilliant light.
Blessed sight.
Sunrise.

Wildlife Potpourri

Here and there we come across wildlife...
sometimes not so wild, really.

For example, I came across this buck in Monterey as I was on a casual stroll.
I was not standing as close as it seems.
Thank you, zoom lens.
August 2016.

This peacock (and a flock of his friends and family)
wanders the grounds of Casa de Fruta.
November 2016.

A white peafowl.
Must be a cock, based on the exorbitant tail plumage.
Part of the peaflock at Casa de Fruta.
Can you see another peacock in this picture?
February 2017.
