Old School

Here are some pictures of the courtyards and colonnades
of the Old Administration Building (OAB)
at Fresno City College.

Read a bit of the history of Fresno City College
and see some excellent photos,
especially of the Library.

Inside these walls there is a beautiful
auditorium, in which I will be participating
in a musical program called
in just a couple of weeks.

When classes are in session
you will see students sitting
in these areas studying.

Once upon a time,
even rain spouts were works of art.

Mesa Colonnade

This colonnade is at a hotel in Mesa, Arizona.

It is a simple covered passageway
from the main building to some
meeting rooms in a side building.

There is something comforting and inviting
about the geometry
and the inherent telescoping perspective.

Notice the textured diamonds in the walkway.

Also, the pillars are not directly across from each other.
They are staggered.

Colonnade

This attractive colonnade
stands proudly
in the courtyard
of "The Pacific House"
adjacent to
Custom House Plaza
in Monterey, California.
It has been here
for more than
150 years.

(NOTE: I have been absent from these 'pages'
for a few months due to family emergency. I'm happy to be back!)
