This must be where old chairs go to hang out.

This is a dandy garden chair awaiting posterior occupation...

Latest addition to my "chair" series.

The last entry was "Chair #10" on 27 July 2014.

That break after the fire was egregiously long.

Chair #10

This chair

may have given up hope

of rescue;

or perhaps it is

playing 'possum;

or it is

slowly -

very, very slowly -

crawling away;

or

maybe it is sunbathing;

or it is just asleep;

or it might have

injured itself

breakdancing;

it has fallen

and

it can't get up.

Chair #8

Hand-set stone

beneath my feet

as I rest...

my weary bones,

my troubled mind,

my cornered soul.

Close my eyes

and breathe in deeply,

the scents of springtime blossoms

washed in morning dew,

and beneath,

an earthy base of soil

and rotting autumn leaves;

around the edges,

pungent sea air;

the persistent cries of seagulls

and the tattling sea lions

punctuating,

pulsating.

The sounds and smells

compose a sensory tapestry

that wraps me in a healing cloak

of creative Life.

A smile.

A nod.

And for these moments,

all is well.

Perfectly sturdy,

healthy,

useful

chair;

tossed aside

when the building it belonged to

was abandoned.

If a chair could curl up

in a fetal position,

I think this lonely chair

would do it.

Or

maybe this chair

is moving toward

The Light.

This invitation to repose

was stationed outside the back entrance

of a local eatery

in Ybor City,

Tampa, Florida.

I got the feeling the chair wanted to say something like,

"What are YOU lookin' at?"

Chair #2: Colorado Springs

A solitary, empty chair

out of context

is just SO intriguing

to me.

Who put it there?

For what purpose?

How many different people have sat there?

Why?

Why this particular chair?

Where did it come from?

Did it have a mate and a little coffee table that went with it?

Chair #1: Tampa

For some reason,

I seem to find lonely, empty chairs

in various and sundry places

most everywhere I go.

This one is on the patio of "my" hotel in Tampa, Florida.

It is just outside the bar,

and as you can see, steps from the "beach."

These solitary chairs

always put me in mind of "time out."

I figure someone must've been involuntarily separated

from the crowd to give them some alone time.

This new series will feature many different types of

chairs in many different locations.

Possibly this is only interesting to me,

but hey it's my blog.

I hope you enjoy it, too, though!
