Plain Geometry
Yes, the title of this post was an intentional
"misspelling,"
but I find it descriptive of this
gathering of squares.
There is even a 'ghostly' square
sneaking in at the top of the frame...

Chair #21
The "chairs" are not the first thing
one notices about this photograph,
and they are rather ordinary wood
and iron park benches.
Still, they are attractive and inviting
in an understated "you know you want to"
kind of way.
This scene is inside the old prison grounds
in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Downtown Fresno
I'm not sure what it means when one needs
a sign like this to elucidate the fact...

Everyday Retro
Design features we see every day
and often take for granted.
Smooth curves, stripes, neon, tiles.
Comforting and exciting
at the same time.

Cactus and Sombrero
It is a little tough to spot at first,
but there is a figure seated at the base
of a cactus as part of this old sign.
The figure is wrapped in a blanket
and wearing a sombrero;
must be enjoying a siesta
while the rest of the sign takes a long nap.

Corner Store Shuttered
Time was,
a store on the corner
was the heartbeat of the neighborhood.
Now,
so many of those beating hearts
have faded into obscurity,
or worse.

Ooh La La
A slightly crowded urban streetscape:
swamp coolers, power lines, bike lanes,
stoplights, street signs,
ornate ironwork and an old-fashioned lamp,
and
Ooh La La!!

Street Art #26
I really like the musical theme.
If memory serves,
I think the sign reads,
"Welcome to the Mural District"

SQUIRREL!
Many folks may see these guys
as rats with fluffy tails,
which is technically true;
and they can be quite destructive
and annoying
(especially for birdfeeder fans);
and...
some people just think
they are cute.
Our dogs know the real story.

El Remanente Iglesia Adventista del Septimo Dia
The Remnant
Seventh Day Adventist Church
Blue-gray paint almost matches the tone of the sky.
I was a little concerned about the "crime scene" tape
at the entrance, then realized it was standard "caution/cuidado" tape
protecting newly installed tile and handrails on the steps.

Fallen Friend
This knight statue
appears to be standing watch
over the tragic remains
of a fallen friend.

Two Palms
I am convinced that at some time in the past
these palms marked some kind of entrance;
like on either side of a driveway, or sidewalk
leading up to the front entrance of a building.
Now they stand guard over a large vacant lot.

Crushing Stone
I believe this is a stone crushing facility,
for the making of concrete mix, etc.
Cloudless sky, too!

Seemingly Random Statuary
These bold (and huge) statues surprised me
as I came around a corner in a downtown neighborhood.
I would love to know the story behind them.

Architectural detail
I was not able to discover (yet)
to whom this monogram belonged,
but it sure is a "fancy" detail
on this facade.

Mola Pillows
These molas were purchased by my wife
when we lived in Panama in the early 1990s.
She made them into pillows after she
re-discovered them in a storage container
that escaped the house fire of 2015.
Taken 26 October 2018.
