Cactus and Sombrero

It is a little tough to spot at first,

but there is a figure seated at the base

of a cactus as part of this old sign.

The figure is wrapped in a blanket

and wearing a sombrero;

must be enjoying a siesta

while the rest of the sign takes a long nap.

I am sure there are thousands of stories witnessed

by this neon sentinel.

The shape and style immediately take us back to another time.

Used to be "Esquire Center"

but both sides of the sign have been altered

to read "squire center."
