Can you see the penny?

Look closer:

The penny is embedded in the surface of the street.

If you zoom in, you can read the "banner" above the terra cotta.

It reads, "J. M. Rustigian Building,"

and just above that is imprinted (engraved? embossed?)

1920.

So this building is approaching its 100th anniversary.

I love the details, especially the way it has been freshly painted.

Unexpected Face #23

"Does this color make me look flat?"

The edge of my car door.

Tagging the top of a grain elevator.

Bold.

Took me a bit to figure out what the "fancy"

calligraphy said.

SUNK.

Then I saw the smaller, simpler version

on the side of the building below,

like a legend or a footnote.

Out of Synch

I see this every day at my workplace.

Drives me crazy.

Revival

REVIVAL church in downtown Fresno.

This architectural style puts me in mind of "the Old World."

A Small Gathering of Vintage Pieces

An old wooden box rests comfortably on a metal tractor seat

while a dapper gent appears to shoulder a  cylindrical lampshade

and a bright yellow gas pump looks on with apparent interest.
