Reflections of Abandonment
The former Fort Ord on California's Central Coast
still has many unused buildings
nearly twenty years after the post was closed.
This is a wet loading dock behind one of the buildings.

Fabric Pattern #11
A relatively mild pattern in the carpet at a DC hotel.
Vaguely suggests square floor tiles,
but...
a kind of ominous repitition
of goats' heads.
Taken 16 November 2010.

Old Stone Portal
A stone portal
probably more than two hundred years old
near one of the adobes close to
Monterey, California's
Custom House Plaza.
Also close by:
Fisherman's Wharf,
Portola Plaza,
a business complex called Heritage Harbor.
A walk down the bicycle/recreational path
will take you to Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium,
Lover's Point, San Carlos Beach, the Coast Guard Pier, and more.
Taken 31 December 2010.

Line, Shadow, Texture
Late day sun casts shadows
on plain white stucco walls,
varying depths of shadow,
clean geometric lines,
subtle textures,
and a blue ribbon of sky.
Taken in Sierra Vista, AZ, 9 February 2011.
