A receding commodity
relegated to dusty back corners,
thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales;
an archaic oddity,
practically museum-worthy,
antiquarian,
quaint,
precious.
There is nothing like
shelves lined with books,
literary pathways
to every imaginable
time and place;
characters
to delight,
frighten,
enthrall,
tickle,
and
most of all,
to remember.
Imaginary friends
that become a part of you
for a lifetime.

Hey, very poetic description the characteristics of books. You probably read an awful lot.
ReplyDeleteHello, Red. Yep. I read a lot; though not as much as I'd like - mostly because I tend to fall asleep trying to read these days. But I do and always have loved to read, and I've cherished books all my life. I used to dream of having a gigantic private library, but moving around during my military career put the kabosh on that.
