Lizard for Lunch

Here is a series of photos of a bird
- some type of heron, I think -
whom I caught having a lizard for lunch. 
This was during a trip to Florida, March 2016. 
We visited a reserve on Sanibel Island.  

I like the last photo best.

You can see the little lizard's face in this photo, and its tail arched over its head.

Most of the lizard is now in the bird's gullet, but his tail is still dangling.

Gulp! Done.

Rest and Reflection

Bossley the pug,

of our TV stand.

He loves the sunshine.

He loves to be close to us.

He loves snuggly warmth.

He rests well.

A dog's life.

Staple Face

See it?

The staples are amused.

Art,

unintended,

unexpected;

everyday objects

aligning themselves

to smirk at our oblivion.

A moment of stolen attention;

a double take,

a second look,

smirking back,

a twinkly eye,

an upturned lip,

a quiet chuckle.

You got me, staples.

Back at ya.

Harbor Fog

I think I took this picture of the harbor in Monterey in February 2012, or so.

I was standing in a small parking lot near the Junipero Serra statue that overlooks the bay from what is called Lower Presidio.

I think it was about 7:00am.

This is actually a color photograph, but the overcast, the shadows, and the natural colors make it look (almost) like a black and white photo.

I take this beautiful place for granted way too much.

Carroll Mansion

This is the Carroll Mansion, Leavenworth, KS.

Beautiful carved doors at the entrance.
