Wet Rose

I debated long and hard
about whether to post this photo.
I was concerned that
since the primary subject -
the beautiful pink rose -
is slightly out of focus
it would be considered by most observers
to be less than acceptable.
* * *
Then I thought,
"Hey."

This is an amateur photographer's personal blog.
I am not trying to win any contests.
I do not do this to make a living.
No one is inspecting my work.
AND
I can post any photo I darn well please.

So.
The Wet Rose
is here.

I think the flower itself is beautiful,
especially the color;
and the additional interest
of the many raindrops
on its petals
made it an irresistible subject for me.

(I just mishandled the focal setting
on my venerable point-and-shoot Canon.
Oh, well.)

Taken 26 August 2011.

  2. Thank you, Doreen. The raindrops are really what caught my attention the most that day. These roses line a brick path to the front door of friends we have known for nearly forty years. They have lived in this house since 1967, but I think the roses arrived with the "new" brick path about 25 years ago.
