Smart Smeller

Potpourri.
How do they get that aroma to stick
to those sticks
for so long???
Somebody,
Somewhere,
meticulously
dyed or painted
wood chips, pine cones,
and sundry other dried plant parts
so that we could have aromatic, colorfully adorned
bits of nature in a bowl
in our living room.
Bless their hearts.

  4. Hahaha I'm thinking it all started with the Egyptians but I may be wrong... they must've been stinky, because they burned a lot of incense. I never considered the amount of work that went into potpourri. Love the photo! I enjoy your writing as well. You're very talented.

Welcome, "Justsayin'" - I have to say your site provides some entertaining and thought-provoking content. Although my comments on this post seem to indicate otherwise, I really hadn't fully considered the "dumb homosapiens" aspect of it... :)
